ClearPass Server Migration, Rescheduled

Due to issues discovered during final testing, ITS is postponing the implementation of the GPO that removes machine authentication. Teams will continue testing and will reschedule this maintenance to a later date.

This post will be updated when a new date is determined.

Please see the following scheduled Information Technology Services (ITS) maintenance process:

Dates: Thursday, April 25, 2024, and Thursday, May 9, 2024

Start Time: Please see schedule below.
End Time: Please see schedule below.

The following work is being completed: ITS will migrate the ClearPass Servers to a new OS. ITS will also enable enforcement on a GPO for AD that will require user authentication for all AD joined machines.  This work will occur during the following timeframes:

  • Thursday, April 25 from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m.
    • GPO is set to applied to all of WSU.
  • Thursday, May 9 from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
    • ClearPass will be migrated, and GPO will become enforced.

All affected groups: WSU Wireless users

All affected processes: WSU Wireless

Duration of impact for all locationsDuring the May 9 maintenance window, there will be a 30-minute outage of wireless authentication as the ClearPass Servers are migrated. The entire maintenance windows will be reserved for this work.

Follow up steps customers need to take: The simplest client scenario leads to no user impact or interaction. However, some clients will require user acceptance of the new certificate for the wireless network or will provide a prompt asking if they expect this wireless network in this location. In this situation, some clients will typically ask the customer to press an “Accept”, “Connect”, or “OK” dialog. This may, or may not, be accompanied by some information about the certificate, radius server, and wireless connection.
