The following work is being completed: Over the course of the past six months, ITS’ ISS, in cooperation with other departments, have added 12 new indexers, 4 new search heads to the Splunk environment (totaling 17 indexers, 8 search heads). The added hardware is not having the expected outcome of improving Splunk functionality. ISS will be completing the necessary changes to localize storage settings within the clusters. ISS will now upgrade the Splunk application from 9.0.1 to 9.1.2, and upgrade technical add-ons and applications located on search heads, indexers, and forwarders as necessary.
All affected groups: All WSU Splunk users
Duration of impact: 6 hours
All processes affected: Splunk and all endpoints running Splunk Universal Forwarding
Follow up steps customers need to take: Once Splunk is upgraded to 9.1.2, all Splunk universal forwarders need to be upgraded to match current Splunk application version.
