The following work is being completed: Per Microsoft’s recommendations and this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/use-connectors-to-configure-mail-flow/enhanced-filtering-for-connectors, two IP addresses for the ProofPoint email filter would be added to the enhanced filtering for connectors in Exchange Online. This changes the relay pool that Microsoft uses when WSU mailboxes have forwarding applied, and will allow for better deliverability to external accounts. This is also a prerequisite for some future uses of Exchange Online Protection. Once the enhanced filtering is enabled for all WSU users from the current sub-set, the temporary work around configured in ProofPoint will be removed.
Groups affected: All accounts at WSU that are using mailbox forwarding would be affected, there is no anticipated impact.
Processes or services affected: All incoming emails that are redirected to an external email account would be processed through Microsoft’s normal relay pool instead of the high-risk relay pool.
Duration of impact: This change should take about 15 minutes.
