Please see the following scheduled Microsoft change:
Date: Thursday, April 2, 2026
The following work is being completed: Microsoft is retiring the SharePoint Add-In extensibility model across all Microsoft 365 environments and tenants.
All affected groups: Users utilizing SharePoint Add-Ins
All affected processes:
- SharePoint-hosted Add-Ins and provider-hosted Add-Ins will no longer function.
- Custom-developed SharePoint Add-Ins will no longer function.
- Marketplace SharePoint Add-Ins will no longer function.
- Third-party SharePoint Add-Ins will no longer function.
- Tenant app catalog functionality for installing and deploying SharePoint Add-Ins will be discontinued.
- This will not impact SharePoint Framework (SPFx), which is the primary replacement technology for SharePoint Add-Ins.
Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.
Necessary follow-up steps:
- For Custom-Developed SharePoint Add-Ins: Migrate to supported technologies, such as SPFx-based solutions.
- For Third-Party or Marketplace Add-Ins: Contact the provider to obtain a supported version that does not rely on the SharePoint Add-In extensibility model.
