The following work is being completed:
- ITS is enabling the “Sign in with Okta FastPass” button on the WSU login page at login.wsu.edu. This change is a foundational step toward future improvements to the WSU login process.
- ITS is also updating account.wsu.edu and automated Okta emails to include the updated WSU Cougar head logo.
All affected groups: Active WSU users
All affected processes:
- FastPass Changes:
- Users will notice a new button on the WSU login page.
- Users who utilize Okta FastPass for multi-factor authentication (MFA) can select this button for an expedited login experience. When selected, it automatically fills in the username on recognized devices.
- Users will still need to enter their password and confirm their login attempt via the Okta Verify app.
- Future logins during the same session will not require repeated confirmations via Okta Verify until the session expires.
- Branding Changes:
- Users will notice the updated WSU logo when logged into account.wsu.edu.
- Users will notice the updated WSU logo in automated emails received from okta@wsu.edu for account activation, password or MFA reset notifications, unrecognized account activity, and similar processes.
Duration of impact: This is a permanent change. No service outage or disruption is expected during the maintenance window.
Necessary follow-up steps: No action is required. All users can continue using the existing login process without any changes. WSU users interested in authenticating via this new button can set up Okta FastPass via account.wsu.edu on a device they have consistent access to.
