Disabling Spoof Intelligence in Microsoft Defender, 11/8

The following work is being completed: An issue has been discovered that is impacting the delivery of some messages being sent through WSU’s SMTP servers, a small subset of messages are failing DMARC authentication and are blocked. The anti-phish module and specifically the spoof intelligence component are rejecting a small percentage of emails sent through either of the two SMTP servers. This emergency change would disable spoof intelligence for all email until a better solution can be determined with Microsoft support.

All affected groups: All of WSU

All processes affected: Microsoft Defender’s Anti-Phish protection. The spoofing intelligence component would be disabled for WSU.

Duration of impact: 5 minutes
