Phase 1 of System Wireless Upgrade, 11/24 – 12/11

Update as of Nov. 24 at 2:15 p.m. — To minimize impact, ITS is completing this work according to the updated schedule below while building occupancy is reduced this holiday week:

  • Nov. 25 to 26: Albrook Hydraulics Lab and Carpenter Hall
  • Dec. 8 to 10: Global Animal Health Building Phase II

Upgrades originally scheduled for Nov. 24 at Sloan Hall and the Electrical-Mechanical Engineering Building were successfully completed.

Please see the following scheduled Information Technology Services (ITS) maintenance process:

Start Date: Monday, Nov. 24, 2025

End Date: Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025

The following work is being completed: As part of the WSU System Wireless Refresh Project, ITS is replacing Aruba wireless access points (APs) in the following departmental buildings at WSU Pullman on the dates listed:

  • Nov. 24 to 26: Sloan Hall and Electrical-Mechanical Engineering Building
  • Dec. 1 to 3: Carpenter Hall
  • Dec. 8 to 10: Global Animal Health Building Phase II
  • Dec. 11: Albrook Hydraulics Lab

All affected groups: Users connecting to WSU wireless networks in the listed buildings

All affected processes: ITS will replace APs one at a time. As each AP is replaced, the SSIDs “WSU Wireless Aruba,” “WSU Guest Aruba,” and “Eduroam Aruba” will be retired and replaced with “WSU Wireless,” “WSU Guest,” and “Eduroam” respectively.

Duration of impact: Each AP will experience a network outage of up to 10 minutes as it is replaced. ITS will complete the AP migration of each building to the new infrastructure within one to three days, following the schedule above.

Necessary follow-up steps: Once the APs are replaced, users will need to re-connect or connect to the wireless network via the updated SSIDs (WSU Wireless, WSU Guest, or Eduroam) as they become available in the listed buildings.
