Transition to New Outlook for Mac, 10/31

Please see the following scheduled Microsoft change:

Date: Friday, Oct. 31, 2025

The following work is being completed: Microsoft is ending support for the legacy Outlook for Mac interface installed with Microsoft 365 subscriptions associated with personal, work, or school accounts. This legacy interface is currently only available on the Outlook desktop application for Mac devices.

All affected groups: WSU users accessing Outlook on a Mac device via the desktop application

All affected processes:

  • The toggle to switch between legacy and new Outlook for Mac interfaces will be removed.
  • The new Outlook for Mac interface will be the only available application version.

Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.

Necessary follow-up steps: Microsoft will automatically transition impacted users to the new Outlook for Mac interface. However, users are encouraged to transition early to allow time to adjust to the updated interface:

  1. Confirm Outlook Version: Open Outlook and check for the Legacy Outlook toggle at the top right of the application. If the Legacy Outlook toggle is not available, the new version of Outlook for Mac is in use.
  2. Transition to New Outlook for Mac: Open Outlook and disable the Legacy Outlook toggle. Users can also open Outlook, select Outlook at the top left of the menu bar, select Legacy Outlook, and confirm the switch.

Additional information: WSU users accessing Outlook on the Web or the Outlook desktop application on a Windows device will not be impacted by this change.
