WSU Email Online Archive Begins March 6

Effective Thursday, March 6, 2025, Washington State University will begin archiving all emails older than six months to an online archive. This process will occur for faculty, staff, students, and alumni automatically, and all emails older than six months will be archived daily thereafter.

Action Required

There is nothing you need to do at this time. The archival process will begin automatically, and you will still have access to your emails.

Easy Archive Access

The online email archive will be easily accessible in your regular mail folders across Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, Outlook on the Web, and Outlook for iOS and Android. The video tutorials below may help guide you with accessing the online archive when it becomes available:

Transition Process

Please note that access to the online archive may not be immediate on March 6, as Outlook may require up to 30 days to transfer data. However, Outlook will remain fully functional, and you will continue to have access to all your emails without any interruption during this transition.

Looking Ahead

In May 2026, WSU will implement additional storage changes that will reduce the available storage capacity for Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint. To minimize any potential service disruptions in May 2026, we encourage you to begin reducing your Microsoft cloud-based storage usage now.
