The following work is being completed: Microsoft is ending support for the Office LTSC 2021 suite and the following related standalone applications:
- Access LTSC 2021
- Excel LTSC 2021
- OneNote LTSC 2021
- Outlook LTSC 2021
- PowerPoint LTSC 2021
- Project LTSC 2021
- Publisher LTSC 2021
- Skype for Business LTSC 2021
- Visio LTSC 2021
- Word LTSC 2021
All affected groups: Users currently utilizing the Office LTSC 2021 suite and related standalone applications
All affected processes:
- Microsoft will discontinue updates, security fixes, and technical support for the impacted applications, increasing the risk of vulnerabilities on devices.
- Impacted applications may continue to function following the end of support date. However, they may become less reliable, face compatibility issues with newer systems and files, and reduce overall productivity due to lack of updates and support.
Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.
Necessary follow-up steps: Impacted users should upgrade to Microsoft 365 to maintain security, compliance, and performance. For scenarios that require a fully disconnected solution, Microsoft recommends impacted users upgrade to Office LTSC 2024. Office LTSC 2024 includes a subset of Microsoft 365 functionalities and will be supported until October 2029.
