Microsoft Storage Warnings Begin Feb. 25

Copies of the communication below were distributed via email on Feb. 17 and Feb. 24 to WSU users. Minor changes were made to this communication to ensure students and employees received information most relevant to them.

Starting Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, you may receive an automated Microsoft warning message if you are nearing your upcoming Microsoft storage allocation limits (90% or more) in Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, or SharePoint.

These warnings indicate action is needed to address your storage usage before WSU implements new Microsoft storage allocations on April 15.

If your WSU Microsoft 365 storage usage exceeds your new allocation, the following services will be restricted until your usage is reduced:

  • At 95% full in Outlook, you cannot send email.
  • At 100% full in Outlook, you cannot send or receive email.
  • At 100% full in OneDrive, Teams, or SharePoint, you cannot upload, edit, create, or sync files. (You will not lose existing files.)

WSU encourages you to review your current Microsoft storage usage and follow the provided suggestions to stay within your new allocation.

You will not receive automated warning messages if your usage is within the upcoming Microsoft storage allocation.
