Quarterly Network Maintenance, 3/16 to 3/19

Update as of March 6 — The maintenance schedule has been revised to include additional work on March 16, March 17, and March 19.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is performing scheduled maintenance from Monday, March 16, 2026, to Thursday, March 19, 2026, as part of the quarterly network infrastructure upgrade process.

All scheduled upgrades are intended to address security vulnerabilities and apply bug fixes.

During various maintenance windows, internet and VoIP phone connectivity across WSU may be temporarily disrupted. No action is required from faculty, staff, or students once the maintenance windows are complete.

The complete quarterly network maintenance schedule is outlined below.

Work with Expected Service Impact

Network or internet outages lasting between 15 and 30 minutes are expected during the following maintenance windows. However, the entire duration of the windows is reserved to complete all planned work.

8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

ITS is removing a legacy site to site VPN tunnels between campuses. Specific traffic patterns may be impacted by the change and route differently.

4 a.m. to 6 a.m.

ITS is completing maintenance on WSU Pullman access points.

8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

ITS is completing WSU Vancouver core infrastructure upgrades.

9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

ITS is completing WSU Everett core infrastructure upgrades.

8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

ITS is completing Seattle-TierPoint core infrastructure upgrades. Please note:

  • An outage of up to 30 minutes is expected for VPN services.
  • WSU Pullman, Everett, TriCities, Vancouver, and Spokane will maintain internet connectivity by failing over to K-20.

Work with No Expected Service Impact

No network or internet outages are expected during the following maintenance windows. However, the entire duration of the windows is reserved to complete all planned work.

8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

ITS is completing routing cleanup and modifications from VPN migrations and UI collaborations.

ITS is also decommissioning two legacy site‑to‑site AWS tunnels that are no longer in use. These tunnels were previously utilized by College of Arts and Sciences.

8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

ITS is completing VPN client default changes.
