The following work is being completed: In accordance with the student records retention schedule outlined in the University Policies and Procedures Manual (UPPM), Canvas course content from Spring 2021 and earlier terms will be permanently removed.
All affected groups: WSU instructors or departments with courses in Canvas from Spring 2021 and earlier terms
All affected processes:
- Canvas course content is retained for five years after the end of the fiscal year in which the course was taught.
- Removals apply only to Credit and Non-Credit courses.
- Removals do not apply to Sandbox and Continuous courses (non-credit courses with no end date).
Duration of impact: This is a permanent change. Once Canvas course content is removed as part of university record disposal requirements, it cannot be recovered.
Necessary follow-up steps:
- WSU instructors and their departments are responsible for exporting any content that must be retained before the course’s scheduled removal date.
- Review instructions on how to export Canvas course content.
