The following work is being completed: ITS is reducing the retention period for emails in primary Outlook mailboxes before they automatically transfer to the online archive for WSU student accounts.
All affected groups: WSU students
All affected processes: Emails, calendar items, notes, and tasks older than four weeks will begin transferring to the online archive. The current six-month online archive process will remain for all other WSU users, including faculty and staff.
Duration of impact: This is a permanent change. After implementation, Outlook may take up to 30 days to move items older than four weeks into the online archive.
Necessary follow-up steps: WSU students can access archived content in Outlook via the In-Place Archive or Online Archive mailbox. Learn more about the Outlook online archive.
Additional information: A systemwide communication will be distributed to inform students of this timeframe change. The communication will be scheduled as soon as possible, with reminders sent at the start of the new academic semester.
