Please see the following scheduled Microsoft change:
Date: Saturday, May 15, 2026
The following work is being completed: Microsoft Teams on the web will require browsers compliant with ECMAScript 2022 (ES2022) to ensure performance and long-term compatibility.
All affected groups: Users who access Microsoft Teams through a web browser
All affected processes:
- Teams on the web will be supported only on browsers that are compliant with ECMAScript 2022 (ES2022).
- All currently supported versions of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari are ES2022 compliant.
- Browsers that are out of vendor support (publisher is no longer providing updates or security fixes) should be assumed non‑compliant.
- Users accessing Teams on non-compliant browsers will be unable to use the web client until their browser is updated to a supported version.
- Users on unsupported browsers will receive reminder banners prompting them to update their browser until May 15.
- This change applies to all Microsoft 365 tenants utilizing Teams on the web.
- Desktop and mobile Teams applications are not impacted.
Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.
Necessary follow-up steps: Units should ensure that users within their area transition to supported browsers. Technical support staff should also verify that managed devices are configured to meet ES2022 compliance requirements.
