All affected processes:

  • Copilot Chat is no longer available to access directly within the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote applications.
  • Copilot Chat remains available via the web and in Outlook.
  • Microsoft has added in-product labels to help end-users and administrators identify their user experience:

    • “M365 Copilot (Premium)”: Users with a paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license

Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.

Necessary follow-up steps: None. If users require Copilot functionality in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, departments may purchase paid Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses. Paid add-on licenses may be purchased for WSU faculty, administrative professional employees, and civil service employees.
