Microsoft has identified issues upon installing the January 2026 Windows security update. An out-of-band (OOB) update was recently released to address these issues.
If administrators have not yet installed the January 2026 Windows security update, and your IT environment includes the impacted features and platforms listed below, we recommend applying the OOB update instead.
Identified issues and impacted Windows versions include:
- Connection and authentication failures in remote connection applications, impacting the following platforms:
- Devices with Secure Launch might fail to shut down or hibernate, impacting only Windows 11, version 23H2.
