WSU Wireless Internet Network Maintenance

Update as of Nov. 24 at 2:15 p.m. — To minimize impact, ITS is completing this work according to the updated schedule below while building occupancy is reduced this holiday week:

  • Nov. 25 to 26: Albrook Hydraulics Lab and Carpenter Hall
  • Dec. 8 to 10: Global Animal Health Building Phase II

Upgrades originally scheduled for Nov. 24 at Sloan Hall and the Electrical-Mechanical Engineering Building were successfully completed.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is upgrading wireless internet connectivity infrastructure in several WSU Pullman buildings on the following dates:

  • Nov. 24 to 26: Sloan Hall and Electrical-Mechanical Engineering Building
  • Dec. 1 to 3: Carpenter Hall
  • Dec. 8 to 10: Global Animal Health Building Phase II
  • Dec. 11: Albrook Hydraulics Lab

Expected Impact

During the scheduled work, users in these areas may experience occasional weak or poor wireless connections, and brief wirelessnetwork outages of up to 10 minutes.

Only small sections of each building will be impacted at a time as ITS updates different parts of the network infrastructure. Expected disruptions will not impact entire buildings and will only occur on the dates listed above.

The option to connect to the internet via existing local wired network access in areas of the buildings where it is already configured and active will remain available to help prevent service disruptions on these dates.

Network Name Changes

As part of this upgrade, wireless network names in the listed buildings will change.

The wireless networks “WSU Wireless Aruba,” “WSU Guest Aruba,” and “Eduroam Aruba” will be retired and replaced with “WSU Wireless,” “WSU Guest,” and “Eduroam” respectively.

If you connect to wireless in the buildings listed above, you may be prompted to reconnect to one of the updated network names. The connection process will remain the same, with selecting the updated network name available to you and enter your WSU credentials.

Classroom Impact

Faculty teaching or staff working with students in the affected buildings during the scheduled maintenance dates are encouraged to share this information through their communication channels to help inform students of potential connectivity disruptions.
