Please see the following scheduled Microsoft change:

Date: Between early October 2025 and mid-November 2025 (An exact implementation for WSU’s Microsoft environment is not available.)

The following work is being completed: Microsoft is automatically installing the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows devices that have Microsoft 365 desktop apps.

All affected groups: Users accessing Windows devices running Microsoft 365 desktop apps

All affected processes:

  • Microsoft will install the app by default and does not require user interaction.

Duration of impact: This is a permanent, Microsoft-driven change.

Necessary follow-up steps: While no action is required, WSU Microsoft administrators can opt-out of the installation in the Microsoft 365 Apps Admin Center:

  2. Go to Customization > Device Configuration > Modern App Settings.
