Feb 19 myWSU Maintenance Scheduled

See the following MyWSU maintenance schedule

Start Date: Saturday, February 19

Start Time: 1:30 a.m.

End Date: Saturday, February 19

End time: 7:30 a.m.

The following work is being completed: Oracle will apply critical security patches to the myWSU environment. During this maintenance period, myWSU will not be accessible.

All affected groups: myWSU users

All processes affected: myWSU access

Duration of impact: Up to 6 hours total

February 2022 Patches

Please see the following Information Technology Services notice:

Date:  02/10/2022
Start Time: 6 pm
End Time: Midnight

The following work is being completed:  Installation of Windows patches for Tier 1 servers

All affected groups:  Pullman campus/Everett campus

Duration of impact:  Patches have synchronized from Microsoft to SCCM.  ITS will be installing patches on Production servers.

All processes affected:  Windows Server Patching – intermittent outages are expected for systems without redundancy.

myWSU outage

Palo Alto Config Change

Please see the following Information Technology Services (ITS) scheduled maintenance:

Dates: Thursday, January 27, 2022
Start Time: 8 PM
End Time: 11 PM

The following work is being completed:  ITS is making a configuration change on the Pullman Palo Alto firewalls to add an additional log destination.

Duration of impact for all locations: No impact is expected from this work.

All processes affected: WSU Pullman Palo Alto firewalls

Panopto Archiving Implementation

Please see the following scheduled ITS maintenance process:

Date:  Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 (ongoing, see below)
Start Time:  12:00 AM

The following work is being completed: Beginning Friday, January 14, 2022, Panopto will automatically archive any video that has not been viewed in the past thirteen months. Panopto will run the archiving process twice per month, with the first run occurring on the 14th.

All affected groups: All users

Additional Info: The unviewed videos will not be deleted. Videos will be retained in inactive storage indefinitely and can be restored to be viewed. Restoration of an archived video can take up to 48 hours.

VMware updates

The following work is being completed: ITS will apply VMware updates to the Virtual Infrastructure.  No disruption is expected due to the resiliency of the cluster undergoing the update.

Microsoft Add-in’s for Excel

Please see the following scheduled ITS maintenance process.

Date:  Tuesday, January 11, 2022
Start Time:  8:00 PM
End Time:  8:15 PM

The following work is being completed: Excel’s built-in add-ins for data visualization: “Visio Data Visualizer,” “Bing Maps,” and “People Graph” require approval in the admin console to work. This would allow for the use of these Microsoft-created add-ins.

All affected groups: Everyone at WSU would have the ability to use these add-ins to visualize Excel data.

Duration of impact: Anticipated 15 minutes for implementation.

Additional Info: Clicking on the add-in links will now work, where previously it would have lead to a message that the add-in was not allowed.

No myWSU access during Spring 2022 Census

Please see the myWSU census data schedule:

Date: Friday, Jan 21, 2022
Start time: 6:00 pm
End time: 9:00 pm

The following work is being completed: Access to myWSU will be turned off while 10th-day census data is collected from MyWSU.

All affected groups: myWSU users

Duration of impact: Maximum of 3 hours

All processes affected: Active user sessions will terminate by 6:15 pm, and any new users trying to log into myWSU during the census collection will be redirected to a myWSU Maintenance notification page.
