Users can’t access files in Microsoft 365 services

ITS is seeing multiple WSU user reports of the following Microsoft service issues:

User Impact: Users may be unable to access files for services including, but not limited to, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 apps.

Current status: MS is reviewing available telemetry and error logs to confirm the impact scenario and determine our next troubleshooting steps.

Aruba Wireless Controller Maintenance

Please see the following Information Technology Services (ITS) maintenance notification:

Start Date: Tue, Oct 26
Start time: 8:00 pm
End Date: Wed, Oct 27
End time: 6:00 a.m.

The following work is being completed: ITS will perform a non-service impacting maintenance update of the Aruba wireless controller software that has been requested by Aruba to fix wireless problems experienced at WSU.

All affected groups: WSU Pullman wireless clients in Residence Halls, Apartments, CUB, Plant Science, Sloan, EME, Albrook, Global Animal Health 2 and Washington Bldg.

Duration of impact: Wireless clients should not experience any wireless outages.

Follow up steps customers need to take: None.

Outlook for Mac, New Outlook, Contact Lists, Help

Features not yet available in the new Outlook for Mac

There are several features that are available in the current version of Outlook for Mac for Microsoft 365 that aren’t yet available in the new Outlook experience. Many of these features are in development and should be available in the new Outlook experience later this year.

*   Contact lists
*   Resend message
*   Accounts – On-Prem Exchange Support
*   Local Folders
*   Export .ICS
*   Contact Folders
*   Export/Import of .olm and .pst files

AIS Mainframe System Compute Reduction

Effective Nov. 1, ITS is reducing the compute capacity of the AIS Mainframe system by 25%.  After this reduction takes effect, the mainframe will retain substantially higher available compute capacity than that which is currently being consumed by greenscreen terminal users.

ITS expects this change to be completely transparent to users, and there will be no outage of AIS Mainframe services.

Please hold on Windows 11 upgrade if possible

Good Afternoon,

With the release of Windows 11, ITS has been testing Global Protect with Windows 11 and have had mixed results.

The Global Protect vendor, Palo Alto, is not supporting Windows 11 at this time, therefore to ensure Global Protect continues working for you and your team, please do not upgrade to Windows 11.

ITS will advise once the vendor supports Global Protect on Windows 11 and we are on a version which is known to be compatible.

Global Protect Upgrade

The following work is being completed: ITS will be doing a minor upgrade to all of the Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN clients to address security vulnerabilities.

All affected groups: All WSU GlobalProtect VPN users (Pullman, Spokane, Everett, and Vancouver)

Duration of Impact: No outage is expected. The maintenance is expected to take between five to fifteen minutes. ITS will be upgrading the GlobalProtect VPN clients on the following firewalls:

*   Pullman Border Firewall

*   Spokane Border Firewall

*   Everett Border Firewall

*   Vancouver Border Firewall

*   iReach Border Firewall

All Processes Affected: GlobalProtect VPN Software Clients.

Follow-up steps customers need to take: Upgrade the GlobalProtect client if or when prompted. Some users may already be running a higher version than the firewall serves up and thus will not be prompted to upgrade. If users have problems connecting to the VPN after upgrading their client, ITS suggests uninstalling and reinstalling the client, followed by rebooting their computer. The client can be found at

Microsoft Search in Bing

Good afternoon,

As a precautionary measure, Microsoft Search in Bing has been disabled in the WSU Office 365 environment until such a time that its value as a feature and any associated risk with the feature can be assessed appropriately.  Customers who may have found utility in this feature can utilize alternate solutions that are similar in functionality, such as the search feature in SharePoint, the Files app in Teams, and search feature in Teams.
