Download and Install Business Objects Software

Click the links below to download the software and the patch. Please save the files to your hard drive and extract.

Business Objects – Desktop Intelligence XI R3.1

  1. Step 1) Download Desktop Intelligence (800 MB Zip)
  2. Step 2) Unzip the software (10 minutes)

  3. Step 3) Find the setup.exe file and double click.

  4. Step 4) Accept the welcome message.

  5. Step 5) Agree to the license.

  6. Step 6) Preferred language – English.

  7. Step 7) Choose a location to install.

  8. Step 8) Accept the defaults.

  9. Step 9) Start the installation (10-15 minutes)

  10. Step 10) Final screen – click finish.

  11. Step 11) Download and run the patch – Post Install Patch v1.4 (150 MB Self-extracting executable) (15 minutes to extract and run)
    • Step 12) Run Business Objects Desktop Intelligence
      “Start” -> “Programs” -> “Business Objects XI 3.1” -> “Desktop Intelligence”
      The system/server is businessobjects.wsu.edu
      Change the login to be “Windows AD”
  12. Log in with your “NID” and “NID” password.

Run Business Objects:

  • After the install, log onto Business Objects Desktop Intelligence
    “Start” -> “Programs” -> “Business Objects XI 3.1” -> “Desktop Intelligence”
    The system/server is businessobjects.wsu.edu
    Change the login to be “Windows AD”
    Log in with your “NID” and “NID” password.

Get an error indicating you cannot connect?
If you cannot connect, it may due to local firewall rules. Your department may have a firewall blocking outbound traffic. Your system administrator may need to open this TCP traffic.

  • IP address : 134.121.140.19
  • Port Range : 6400 – 6410 and 56400, 56420, 80, 443
  • The reply ports will be the typical range of 1024-65535
