In response to the number of service accounts affected, ITS has scheduled the following change for Okta password management of service accounts that will take effect as of noon today, July 20:
Date: Wednesday, July 20, 2022
Start time: 12:00 P.M.
End time: 11:59 P.M.
The following work is being completed:
- WSU is adding additional password notifications for service accounts that exist in Okta. WSU will now begin sending a notice when an account is within 45 days of requiring a password reset. This notice supplements the 7 and 3 day notices WSU already sends for all Okta accounts.
- For additional clarity, all password reset messages will now include the account login (nid@wsu.edu ) in the body of the reset message.
- Additionally, WSU will start sending notices for the test environment (DEVAD). Like login.wsu.edu, these emails will be sent at 7 and 3 days before the password must be reset. WSU will also send 45 day notices for service accounts that are defined in the test environment.
Duration of impact: None.
All affected groups: Owners of service accounts in Okta
All processes affected: Service account notifications will increase in the effort to assist with password management
Follow-up steps customers need to take: To reset the password on your service account, login to login.wsu.edu with the service account and change the password just like you would for your normal user.
If this is a resource account where you do not need to login with a password, or where you only login to AD and not Okta, you can ignore this message.
